Be A Star Foundation, Inc. assists thousands of critically ill children and their families in our local area, the foundation, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization voluntarily raises funds for the Pediatric Oncology Support Team (P.O.S.T.) and the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.

P.O.S.T. of the Child Life Institute helps children with cancer and their families deal with the impact of diagnosis and treatment. The Team’s mission is to provide a complete range of free comprehensive services to pediatric oncology patients, both inpatient and outpatient, within a six county area, regardless of the treatment site. P.O.S.T. is staffed by a highly qualified team of dedicated professionals. Team members include social workers, case manager, child therapist, teacher and child life specialist. The no-cost, highly valued services, provided by P.O.S.T. include:

• Comprehensive Case Management and Advocacy
• Medical and Diversional Play Therapy
• Sibling Support and Intervention
• Mental Health Counseling for Individuals and Families
• Financial Crisis Stabilization
• Referral to Local and National Resources
• Bereavement Support
• School Re-entry Program
• Bedside Educational Support
• Support for Clinic, Hospital, Home and School Visits
• Support Groups

The Child Life Institute provides free comprehensive, supportive services within the hospital and community that include direct emotional, financial and educational assistance. Additionally, the Institute is committed to preventing accidental childhood injury through awareness and advocacy. The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, a non-profit organization, was established to provide support for activities that advance and enhance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of childhood diseases and disorders. To carry out their mission the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation supports not-forprofit children’s health care programs and projects.
